.REPRODUCTION BATES SEAT
why.
OBSESSIVELY ACCURATE
If your looking for period correct parts for your motorcycle, then you realize just how difficult it can be to find a good Bates seat. This is why we thought it's important to have a good reproduction available.

We do the same styles that Bates did. Seats in 1” or 2” thickness, plain top or tuck and roll, and black or white colored leather. We have been obsessive with getting our seats to be exactly the same as the original Bates seats. To do this we created our patterns from an original Bates cover; this way we know they are the same. There is a good chance you may have already seen one of our seats and not realized it. The only way to really tell the difference is we have stamped our name into the steel seat pan underneath.

A WORD ABOUT LEATHER
Modern leather is aniline dyed. This means the hide is dyed all the way through the skin, then a clear top coat is put on top for protection. This leather will almost never show any wear. Older leather was instead pigmented. Put simply, this means the top of the hide was painted. This is why they wear after time and begin to show the beige color of the hide under the pigmented top coat.

This is what makes original Bates seats like a good baseball glove or a vintage pair of Levi’s - they just get better with age. We realized a Bates reproduction would never be right if the leather wasn't right. That's what sets our seats apart; we have used the right leather so they also get better with age. There is no fake patina here, we leave the aging up to you.
